Lucci & Orlandini

Award winning designers, educators and authors Roberto Lucci and Paolo Orlandini have been working together since 1968, specializing in the Office, Chair and Kitchen sectors. More than 3,500,000 chairs carry the Lucci & Orlandini signature and together they have designed more than 340 products including Sedia Systems' Runner, Q 3000, E 3000, E 4000, ST 40, ST SF, Modulamm, Idea, Conpasso and Elitra.

Born in Milan, Italy, Roberto Lucci studied at the Chicago Institute of Design and attended the Advanced Industrial Design Course in Venice. Paolo Orlandini was born in Grosseto, Italy and graduated from the Politecnico di Milano with a degree in architecture. Both worked with Marco Zanuso, Sr. and Richard Sapper before embarking on their independent design careers.

Products designed by Roberto Lucci and Paolo Orlandini have been selected for numerous design awards including the Compasso d'Oro award (1979, 1981, 1984, 1987, 1989, 1991, 2001); the Sim-Industrial Design International awards (Milan 1982, 1983); two awards from the Institute of Business Designers (New York 1982, 1986); two Smau Industrial Design awards (Milan 1971, 1978); two International Promosedia awards (Udine 1986, 1987); the Resources Council Product Design Awards Program prize (New York, 1982); three Industrie Forum Design Hannover international awards (Hannover 1983, 1990, 1992); Oscar Snai (Paris 1990); L.I.D.A. Acclaim award” (Los Angeles 1995); Industrial Design Distinction award (New York 1996); Grandesign international award (Milan 1997); two Catas awards (Udine 1998); Top Ten award (Udine 1999); Best of Neocon gold medal (Chicago 2000) and silver medal (Chicago 2006); Grand Prix de l’Innovation (Paris 2002); Chicago Athenaeum Good Design award (Chicago 1995, 2003, 2004, 2010).

Both Lucci and Orlandini have been visiting professors at design colleges, universities and conferences throughout the globe and have taught at the prestigious Istituto Europeo di Design, I.S.I.A. di Roma, Politecnico di Milano and the Scuola Politecnica di Design di Milano. Together they published the book Product Design Models, Van Nostrand Reinhold publisher, New York 1990. Roberto Lucci also co-authored the book Fundamentals of Materials Technology as an Introduction to the Study of Design, Tamburini editor, Milan 1967, with Renzo Piano and Marco Zanuso, Sr.

Lucci and Orlandini's works are present in the design collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art, the Für Kunst und Gewerbe Museum in Hamburg and the Centre National d'Art Contemporain of the Louvre in Paris. Their work continues to be included in international design exhibitions throughout the world.

James Morrow

James Morrow, IDSA is the principal of Morrow Design, an industrial design firm located in Chicago, Illinois. He has over 25 years of experience in the design and development of medical, consumer and industrial product and packaging systems, holds numerous design and utility patents and is two time recipient of the Chicago Athenaeum Good Design Award.

Morrow partnered with Sedia Systems to develop the M Series. Characterized by its flexible features and contemporary design, the M-Series is available in both swing away and fixed table configurations.

Upon graduation from the University of Cincinnati with a BS in Industrial Design, Morrow was hired as a junior designer with Joss Design Group. A year later, he joined the firm of E. Burton Benjamin Associates as a senior designer. Within two years, he went on to become a project manager for Robert Case and Associates, a multidisciplinary product development firm specializing in the user centered design of medical and consumer products. After several promotions, he was named vice president of product design and became a principal in the company. After 12 years with RC&A, he left to partner in Podd-Morrow Design, a product and graphic design practice.

Baldanzi & Novelli

Baldanzi & Novelli’s award winning products are distributed world-wide, published in iconic international trade journals and design magazines, and used in the production of international television broadcasts and programs. Since its inception in 1984, the Baldanzi & Novelli studio has devoted itself not only to Industrial Design, but also to Corporate Image and Art Direction, considering these areas supplementary to the core business of design.

After studying Industrial Design in Florence, Adriano Baldanzi and Alessandro Novelli worked in various areas of product design including upholstered products, motorcycle helmets, electrical appliances and air conditioners. Since they established the Baldanzi & Novelli Studio, they have successfully collaborated with a variety of companies, producing a plethora of well-received chairs including the Everyday, Contact, Vela, Vigor, Flow and Mood, the Festival shelving system, the Campus university seating system, and Drums, a system of home computer tables.

Baldanzi & Novelli designed Sedia Systems' C100, C600 and Vision auditorium chairs and the On Time visitor chair.

Dante Bonuccelli

Dante Bonuccelli was born in 1956 in Buenos Aires, where he graduated with a degree in Architecture in 1979. From 1980 to 1983 he designed buildings in Argentina and then in 1984, moved to Milan where he currently lives and works. Since 1986, Bonuccelli has designed buildings, fittings and products in Europe, America and Asia.

Bonuccelli established Avenue Architects, an architecture and design studio located in Milan, in 1998. His main clients are IBM, Hoechst, Johnson Controls, Eni, Ansaldo, Bocconi University, Infostrada, Philips and Vodafone. He is a design consultant for Unifor and Dada.

Bonnuccelli's designs have been the subject of more than 50 international magazine and book publications and have been displayed in various exhibitions in Italy, Argentina, the USA, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Japan and Singapore. He is the designer of Sedia Systems' Genya and Blade seating.
