Atria Architects & Engineers led the renovation of the Isabel Bader Theatre at Victoria University with the goal of enhancing comfort, functionality and overall performance for both academic programming and public events. The theatre’s steep balcony configuration and varied seating requirements across multiple levels presented a complex design challenge. The seating solution needed to adapt to demanding geometry while maintaining a cohesive and sophisticated aesthetic throughout the space.

Sedia Systems was selected for its ability to deliver flexible, thoughtfully engineered auditorium seating tailored to the theatre’s unique conditions.

J30 Auditorium Chairs and JumpSeat 90 Chairs were specified to support audience comfort and operational efficiency. In the upper balcony, J30 chairs were customized with high backs to accommodate the steep tiering while preserving clear sightlines and maintaining a clean architectural profile. Custom radius rows, coordinated finishes and integrated tablet arms allowed the seating to align seamlessly with the theatre’s design intent.

JumpSeat 90 Chairs were strategically positioned near entrances and along balcony areas to provide discreet, space-efficient seating for ushers without disrupting the overall aesthetic.

The result is a revitalized performance venue that pairs thoughtful detailing with durable, comfortable seating—designed to support the theatre’s needs for years to come.
