Since its founding in 1984 by industrial designer Sohrab Vossoughi, Ziba has grown to become one of the world's most respected innovation agencies. Besides working with major global corporations such as Intel, Procter & Gamble, Philips and KitchenAid, the studio also develops independent projects under its Ziba Labs initiative.
Ziba Labs is the studio's "creative sandbox" program, providing opportunities for its designers to explore ideas about which they're personally passionate, beyond those developed for clients. Projects range from a new hanger for clothes, to an improved package for consumer electronics, to a radically different form of auditorium seating, and often generate enough external interest to go into production.
Ziba's headquarters in Portland, Oregon is home to over 100 creative minds, including interaction, communications, service, environmental and industrial designers, as well as researchers, strategists and engineers. The company also has offices in San Diego, Munich and Tokyo. The studio holds more than 50 patents and numerous design awards, including IDEA, Red Dot and Print awards, and has been featured in publications including Metropolis, Fast Company, Bloomberg BusinessWeek and Harvard Business Review.
