Case Study: Riverside Theatre in Iowa City, Iowa
P10 Auditorium Chairs
For more than four decades, Riverside Theatre has been a vital part of Iowa City’s arts community, presenting classic productions, new works and programming that supports local artists and audiences. As the organization grew, it sought a larger, more flexible space, ultimately relocating to a historic building on Iowa City’s pedestrian mall.
Neumann Monson Architects led the renovation, modernizing the century-old structure while preserving its historic character. The design creates an accessible, welcoming environment for audiences and performers, anchored by a versatile 150-seat black box theatre that accommodates a wide range of stage and audience configurations.
Because Riverside Theatre frequently changes its stage layouts, the seating needed to be flexible without compromising comfort, durability, or performance. Sedia Systems provided P10 Auditorium Chairs with fully movable functionality, offering the comfort and stability of permanent seating while allowing staff to quickly reconfigure the space for each production.
The result is a highly adaptable performance environment that supports Riverside Theatre’s creative vision. Paired with the thoughtful renovation, the flexible seating system allows the venue to transform with each production while maintaining a comfortable, cohesive audience experience.
